Furthering our commitment to Becoming Beloved Community, St. Michael’s Sacred Ground Alumni have continued their journey studying the racial history of the United States. As an expansion of our understanding of community, we have been learning about the history of lynchings close to home, as well as tremendous liberation borne out of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, especially in the examples of Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass. Lay leaders who have been engaged in these conversations invite all parishioners to join us on June 3 for a pilgrimage to some of these sacred sites.

Led by the director of the Harriet Tubman Museum, we will experience code songs containing hidden messages for freedom seekers; visit Long Wharf, where kidnapped African Americans were shipped and sold; and significant points of the Underground Railroad, including Pleasant Cemetery, a night-time rendezvous point used by Tubman to start treks to freedom, far from the eyes of plantation owners and overseers.

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship
