TONIGHT: A Narrative History of Calloway United Methodist Church
The Sacred Ground Alumni Group invites the congregation to join in learning more about the history of Arlington from a neighbor, Ms. Saundra Green. Ms. Green is a member of a neighboring parish, Calloway United Methodist Church. Calloway is part of the Hall’s Hill community, one of the first historically black neighborhoods in Arlington, dating to 1866. Calloway and the residents of Halls Hill were in the forefront of desegregating Arlington schools and have a history as a resilient, self-reliant community with their own school, firehouse and businesses dating to the days of segregation. Ms. Green has first-hand knowledge of Calloway’s role in Arlington. She will share history and her insights with us. All are welcome in the Parish Hall at 7 PM on Thursday December 1, to meet with Ms. Saundra Green.
