Shrine Mont Camps Sunday
In churches across our Diocese, Shrine Mont Camps are being celebrated this Sunday. You all know that my time on the mountain was life-changing, so my support of Shrine Mont does not come without bias. Last October I gathered with over sixty alumni counselors on the mountain to reconnect, pray, and play together. While it had been over twenty years since many of us had worked together, person after person told of the ways in which those relationships and experiences had shaped the person they have become.
Many of you have also experienced the magic of Shrine Mont Camps, and the many ways they help young people to grow in faith, live into the baptismal covenant, and cultivate a love for God’s Creation. For generations, people have described Shrine Mont Camps as one of the most formative experiences of their childhood. Shrine Mont Camps are truly one of the most powerful Christian formation programs in the Diocese of Virginia. I hope all of our youth are able to have this transformational mountaintop experience.
Shrine Mont Camps 2023 is excited to provide an amazing summer of programming filled with new and traditional sessions, including St. George’s, Explorers the Great, St. Andrew’s, St. Elizabeth’s, Family Camp, and the joyful return of Senior High Youth Conference! New this year are “Lil’s” Session (a shorter three-night stay for young campers, with all the fun of longer sessions) and All Saints Specialty Session (where campers can elect to spend time in Sports, Music and Drama, Art, or Outdoor Exploration programming, or a bit of it all).
