Learn More about St. Michael's Pilgrimages

Beginning in 2023, St. Michael’s will offer an annual inter-generational pilgrimage. Our intention is to cycle through domestic and international destinations. Pilgrims will purposefully engage the arc of the pilgrim’s journey and the Christian connection to pilgrimage, prior to departure, during our travels, and after our return.

All are welcome to learn more about both opportunities at an interest virtual meeting at one of the following times:

  • October 16 at 7 PM: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86216219403
  • October 17 at 10 AM: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87473866606

“Gospel and the Politics of Race” Pilgrimage: June 19-26, 2023
Participants will journey through the story of the control and confinement of African bodies on U.S. soil from enslavement, through Jim Crow, to mass incarceration and police brutality. We will also investigate the parallel development of the political construct of “whiteness.” The journey will begin in Montgomery, Alabama, continue to Money, Mississippi, Memphis, Tennessee, and end in Ferguson, Missouri.

Freedom Road Pilgrimages will guide our group through the stories of the oppressed from the roots of their oppression; its social, theological, and cultural justifications; its historic and current-day impacts; its present-day social and political outcomes; the spiritual formation necessary to navigate this direct engagement within The Narrative Gap, as coined by Lisa Sharon Harper. One of the unique features of working with Freedom Road is bringing together people of color and those of European descent to bridge the Narrative Gap.

Spring, 2024: Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
Participants will journey to Israel and visit sites where Jesus lived, died, and was resurrected. Jerusalem, Jericho, Nazareth, the Mount of Olives, Capernaum, and other locations will fill our ten-day itinerary. The stories of Holy Scripture will come alive in a new way both with our travels, and our intentional engagement of the spiritual experience. Pilgrims will be led by a native of Jerusalem, Canon Iyad Qumri.

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship
