Exhibition: “Celebrating Our Community of Saints” Now Open

This month, St. Michael’s is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. To mark the occasion, during which our community will rededicate itself to God’s mission, the Arts & Faith Ministry is presenting from September 13 to October 13 a special group exhibition, “Celebrating Our Community of Saints.” On view are work by six artists: Dana Ellyn, Elise Ritter, Christopher Santer, Kathleen Stark, Kreg Yingst, and George Ziobro. Local artists Ellyn, Ritter, and Stark, and Florida printmaker Yingst have appeared in earlier exhibitions at St. Michael’s. Santer, a Minnesota painter, and world traveler Ziobro, will be showing their work for the first time.

The entire exhibition comprises portraits of saints, those traditionally venerated in the Episcopal Church as well as the many remarkable and inspiring doers and makers among us: civil and human rights activists, political leaders, thinkers and philosophers, visual artists, and writers and poets. The artworks range from portraits in oils, acrylics and collage, inks and watercolors, and egg tempera, to painted block prints and signed prints of original drawings in black Prismacolor pencil. Most of the artworks are available to purchase.

Thirty-four of the artworks, some no bigger than 6” x 9,” hang in the parish hall; in a simultaneous online exhibition, images of 12 additional woodblock prints are exhibited.

A reception for the artists will be held Sunday, October 8, 4:00 PM, in the parish hall. All parishioners and their invited guests and collectors are welcome.
