Donate Holiday Cheer to our Community Nonprofits

Living in kinship with our neighbors is your Outreach Committee's guiding principle. We are deeply grateful to be "doers" in partnership with our community nonprofits throughout the year. During the holiday season many of you ask how you can share in St. Michael's generosity. While we encourage you to donate personally to support our partners who are providing food and shelter to our neighbors in need, St. Michael's will also be collecting items that have been specifically requested, see the list below. Additionally, we’ll distribute any gift cards that are donated ($25-$35 to grocery stores, Target, CVS). Please bring your donated items and gift cards to the Parish Hall by December 20.

AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center): low-sugar cereal, canned tuna and chicken
APAH (Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing): gift cards
Bridges to Independence: diapers or gift Cards
Doorways for Women and Families: disinfecting wipes or gift cards
Path Forward: men's underwear (all sizes) or gift cards

Thank you for sharing your gifts during this most holy Advent season. Contact Linda Kelleher (703-346-9808) with any questions.

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship

Weekly Formation Offerings

Story Core: All are welcome to gather in the parish hall following worship on Sunday, for a time of sharing our stories, while getting to the core of the Christian story. There is no homework, and no need to have participated in conversation the week before. The intention is for this to be an intergenerational conversation, accessible no matter how much time you’ve spent with Holy Scripture.

Children's Worship: During the Season of Advent, we will focus on a different theme each Sunday as we build a paper Advent wreath. We will send the candles home each week and are happy to include any missed candles to work on at home if your child is interested. Just let us know! We also have a digital copy of an Advent calendar of family activities to do as you wait for Christmas. This is not intended to be another "to do" on a long list this season but simply an opportunity to pause occasionally throughout the month and remember what we are waiting for. Please be in touch with our Minister of Children and Families, Karen Ruff, to learn more about children’s worship.
