Discipleship Sunday
On Sunday September 11, we’ll have the opportunity to reflect on our impact in the community as well as discern where our gifts might be best placed in the coming months. Join the Outreach Committee after the service as we welcome representatives from the four local charitable partners we support as a parish:
- AFAC—The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) obtains and distributes groceries to those in the county who otherwise couldn’t afford them.
- APAH—Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) owns, develops and preserves quality rental communities for individuals and families earning approximately $20,000-$60,000 per year.
- Doorways—Doorways creates passage out of homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual assault leading to safe, stable, and empowered lives.
- PathForward—Formerly A-SPAN, PathForward delivers housing solutions and roadmaps to stability for the underhoused and homeless.
We’ll also be launching a survey to get your thoughts on how we can best support our neighbors in the future. In 2021, St. Michael’s focused on two areas of great need in our community: housing and food insecurity. While the current economy has certainly not helped improve either, we want to be mindful of where else our gifts might be most needed. The Outreach Committee looks forward to hearing your thoughts!
