Bishops Transitions

The Rt. Rev. Susan E. Goff, Bishop Suffragan and Ecclesiastical Authority, announces with thanksgiving the appointment of the Rt. Rev. Paul Bayes, retired Bishop of Liverpool, as a Visiting Bishop in the Diocese of Virginia. Bishop Bayes will serve in the Diocese from mid-September through December 5, 2022. His wife Kate will accompany him.

Bishop Bayes has been a frequent visitor to the Diocese of Virginia for many years in his role with the Triangle of Hope. The Triangle of Hope is a covenantal community between the Dioceses of Liverpool (England), Kumasi (Ghana), and Virginia dedicated to transforming the long history and continuing presence of slavery in our world through repentance, reconciliation and mission. During their months in the Diocese of Virginia, Bishop Bayes and Kate, a stained-glass artist, will reside in Arlington.

Assistant Bishop Jennifer Brooke-Davidson Accepts Call to Diocese of North Carolina
The Rt. Rev. Susan Goff, Bishop Suffragan and Ecclesiastical Authority, announced today that the Rt. Rev. Jennifer Brooke-Davidson has accepted a call to serve as Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina. She completes her ministry in Virginia on September 22.

“It is hard to leave the wonderful friends and colleagues that I have come to love in this Diocese, but I know that the good work will continue here in making the Gospel known and the Kingdom real in this place,” said Bishop Brooke-Davidson. “I ask your prayers as Carrick and I move into a new chapter in another vibrant corner of Christ’s vineyard. We will miss you and we ask God’s blessing on the Diocese of Virginia.”
