Advent: Telling the Truth
During the season of Advent, our focus turns to the practice of Truth Telling, as we continue to lean into the invitation to Become Beloved Community. We invite you to ground yourself in the hopeful truths that are found in revisiting the story of Jesus as Emmanuel, the one who dwells with us.
Change is hard and facing new beginnings can be harder. As we breathe life into new spaces and new ways of becoming beloved community in a new liturgical and church year, join our Seminarian, Hayden, for a two-week Advent formation series where we will name and mourn the things that we have lost in the pandemic, and celebrate the ways God is moving in this new season.
Love and Joy are represented in the lighting of the second and third advent candles. If grief is “the price we pay for love,” then we will make room in the first week to name grief we may be holding, as a way of loving our neighbor and ourselves. Then in week two, we will seek Joy as we spend time together naming the Joy we see in our everyday lives and in our St. Michael’s community.
All are welcome to gather on December 4 and 11, immediately following Sunday morning worship.
