Sunday Mornings

Episcopal Worship

Please make note of our inclement weather policy.

Whether you’ve been to Episcopal services all your life, or this is your first, we hope you’ll worship in the way that is most comfortable to you. The service instructions about standing, kneeling, and other directions are intended to help clue you into the habits of this particular community.

The words of our worship service are lifted from the Episcopal (and before that, Anglican) tradition. The thing that sets us apart from other denominations is our dedication to Common Prayer. These same words have been used for hundreds of years by people all over the world, and are still used today. The hope in committing ourselves to this ancient tradition is that we might both learn from those who have come before, and add our own voices to the heavenly chorus.

In our pews you will find the following resources:

  • The Book of Common Prayer,1979, which has deep roots in the worldwide Anglican Communion.

  • The 1982 Hymnal of the Episcopal Church, as well as the supplemental hymnal Wonder Love, and Praise

Sounds from children, young and old, are a valuable part of a vibrant prayer life! Families who remain in the sanctuary are encouraged to allow children to worship in age-appropriate ways, remaining mindful that it does not distract those around you who are also worshiping. Should a break be beneficial at any point in the service, you are welcome to relocate to the soft play area adjacent to the sanctuary, through the glass doors.

Altar Flowers

Altar flowers are dedicated as memorials of thanksgiving, in memory of, or in honor of loved ones. Dedications are placed in the weekly bulletin. A suggested donation of $50 helps defray the cost of flowers and all other altar supplies to enhance our worship. Donations can be made online or by writing a check to St. Michael’s with “Altar Flowers” in the memo.

For more information, please contact our parish administrator. Make a dedication.
