Doorways for Women and Families
Doorways creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. It assists women and families, including many young children, through its Emergency Shelter, Freddie Mac Foundation Family Home, and Supportive Housing Program.
St. Michael’s parishioners are long-time financial supporters of Doorways (formerly TACTS), the emergency shelter and safe house for women and families. We assist through gifts for mothers and children, donations of household items, and gift cards for purchasing back-to-school supplies.
Engagement Opportunities:

Recent Events:
On February 25th, Doorways representative, Joy Meyers presented an overview of their mission and activities to the parish at the coffee hour following the 9:30 service. She provided information on how we can help increase awareness about domestic violence and the resources available for those who experience it. The more aware that we are, the more we might be able to help someone in need.
For the holidays, we collected paper towels, disinfecting wipes, and gift cards to support Doorways families.
In April 2023, St. Michael’s collected workbooks (math, spelling, reading) for children ages pre-K through 4th grade.
