Bearing Witness: Artist Talk

“Bearing Witness — Seeing As a Holy Act”
Artist Talk by
Margaret (Peggy) Adams Parker

Sunday, February 26, 2023
4:00 p.m.
St. Michael’s Parish Hall

Description

As we pray the “Stations of the Cross,” gazing and reflecting on each image, we stand as witness to Christ’s suffering and death on our behalf. We do not often consider our daily acts of seeing in the same way but the 20th Century philosopher and mystic Simone Weil described the act of attention as an act of prayer. In this Artist’s Talk, we will discuss ways that seeing can be a holy act, a means of bearing witness by holding in our hearts both beauty and suffering.
