MARY, MARY: Curatorial Statement

I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. May your word to me be fulfilled. ~ Luke 1:38

Behold, your mother. ~ John 19:27

An inspiration to countless artists over many centuries, Mary has been painted or depicted in other media in many different versions and roles - as woman, daughter, cousin, mother, wife, refugee, comforter, intercessory to Jesus, the Madonna, the Virgin, Godd…

MARY, MARY: Artists' Statements

Carolyn M. Abrams

"Liminality"

I created "Liminality" during the time of a spiritual journey, where I questioned what I believed because I believed it, not because someone in my youth told me to. The Blessed Mother Mary was an ever-present being at this threshold. She was and is the stable voice and guidance in my life and, in contemporary terms, "my go-to girl"! I see Mary in ever…

MARY, MARY: Questions for Reflection

As you view the numerous contemporary images of Mary and read the poems, give thought to the following questions:

* What does Mary, the subject of this wide-ranging exhibition, mean to you as a person of faith?

* What preconceived notions of Mary are communicated through iconographic or traditional depictions of Mary?

* Which of the artworks on the gallery walls and online discomfor…

Service Times

Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.

At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament.Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship

Weekly Formation Offerings

Story Core: All are welcome to gather in the parish hall following worship on Sunday, for a time of sharing our stories, while getting to the core of the Christian story. There is no homework, and no need to have participated in conversation the week before. The intention is for this to be an intergenerational conversation, accessible no matter how much time you’ve spent with Holy Scripture.

Children's Worship: During the Season of Advent, we will focus on a different theme each Sunday as we build a paper Advent wreath. We will send the candles home each week and are happy to include any missed candles to work on at home if your child is interested. Just let us know! We also have a digital copy of an Advent calendar of family activities to do as you wait for Christmas. This is not intended to be another "to do" on a long list this season but simply an opportunity to pause occasionally throughout the month and remember what we are waiting for. Please be in touch with our Minister of Children and Families, Karen Ruff, to learn more about children’s worship.
