Our Sunday School program invites all youth from preschool to high school to learn about and experience a living faith in Jesus.
Children in third grade and older are invited to worship with their parents in the Sanctuary each Sunday. Children from pre-kindergarten through second grade attend a shorter, more simplified Children's Chapel service based on the Rite II Eucharist. Just before 11:00 a.m. they join their parents in church to receive communion. Sunday School classes are held Sundays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon during the school year and are taught by a team of enthusiastic volunteer teachers who teach on a rotating basis.
Lessons and activities are based on the lectionary, and teachers use a variety of curricula to teach about the Episcopal Church, the traditions of Christianity, and to discuss age-appropriate issues of faith and morality.
In addition, students participate in a variety of special events during the school year – a workshop on homemade Advent wreaths, class Christmas parties, and our annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Registrations for Sunday School classes take place in September, but drop-ins and guests are always welcome. For more information, please contact Melanie Monahan at schoolcontact@stmichaelsarlington.org.
