Each year in September, St. Michael's holds a retreat weekend at Shrine Mont, or as it is more formally known, the Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration and Conference Center of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.
Located in Orkney Springs, Virginia, Shrine Mont has become for generations of Virginia Episcopalians a wonderful place to relax and refresh both the body and spirit.
St. Michael's parish retreats feature programs of study and discussion, legendary meals, evening fun activities, a concluding service in the outdoor Shrine, and much free time for reading, hiking, knitting, and otherwise enjoying a peaceful time together.
Shrine Mont also is the site of a number of summer camps and youth conferences sponsored by the Diocese. Many of St. Michael's young people have enjoyed these programs over the years, and have come away with lifelong memories of fun and growth at Shrine Mont.
