The major mission of the LAF Committee is to offer a variety of fellowship opportunities for the parish to enjoy. Over the past several years this has included receptions for bishop visitations, pot luck suppers throughout the year, an ice cream social on the last day of Vacation Bible School, farewell and then welcome-back receptions around Mtr. Leslie's sabbatical, and the festive, well-attended Christmas Eve reception following the late service.
The LAF Committee also coordinates Sunday coffee hours. St. Michael’s is committed to offering a coffee hour after services because this is such an important part of our church life. Although we offer two coffee hours, last year we began a system that has been working well, where parishioners sign up to host after the 9:00 a.m. service only. Hosts provide extra food for the coffee hour after the 9:00 a.m. service and leave all leftovers for the second coffee hour after the 11:15 a.m. service.
Our sexton, Carlos Marquina, has been wonderful helping with setting up and cleaning up every Sunday, and also makes the coffee. Thanks to Carlos, hosting a coffee hour has never been easier! The LAF Committee is well named because our meetings and events are filled with joy and laughter. We have a lot of fun planning and running fellowship activities for our parish. The LAF Committee
needs help with all our events, and we're also very pleased to have new
committee members. Fresh ideas for fun activities the entire parish can
